Four schools in Ningbo have been designated as "National Aviation Characteristic Schools" in the latest selection by the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The honored institutions include Fengjia Primary School in Shigi Subdistrict, Haishu District; Youngor Experimental School in Haishu District; Shanghai Normal University Affiliated Ningbo Experimental School; and Ningbo Huizhen Academy.
Fengjia Primary School utilizes specialized facilities such as artificial intelligence labs, drone classrooms, and technology workshops to deliver aviation and aerospace courses. The school offers extracurricular clubs focused on drones, programming, robotics, and aircraft modeling. It organizes annual science festivals and frequently invites aviation scientists and engineers to give lectures. Students have consistently won national and provincial awards in competitions including the National Youth UAV Challenge and the National Primary and Secondary School Information Technology Innovation Contest.
Youngor Experimental School, a public nine-year consistent education institution, is equipped with six science laboratories, four IT classrooms, and one maker space. Over the past three years, the school has integrated aviation education through its aerospace exhibition hall and drone training programs. It hosts events like the Campus Science Carnival and China Space Science Popularization Day, with experts regularly invited to lead sessions. Both teachers and students have achieved outstanding results in national and provincial contests, earning over 30 national and 60 provincial awards in the past year.
Shanghai Normal University Affiliated Ningbo Experimental School has built a professional team combining in-house faculty and external experts to advance aviation education. The school has established 19 specialized labs, including an aviation science popularization laboratory and a UAV training field, equipped with advanced devices such as VR flight simulators. Its integrated approach to curriculum, faculty, and facilities supports a robust aviation program. Annual aviation technology festivals and model aircraft competitions stimulate student interest. Notable achievements include provincial first prizes and national second prizes in innovation contests. Students also participate in aviation-themed volunteer activities to share knowledge with the community.
Ningbo Huizhen Academy, supported by the High-End Equipment Manufacturing Joint Laboratory, integrates aviation science with holistic education. The school continues to refine its aviation-focused curriculum and practical activities to enhance students' technological literacy and innovation capabilities. This recognition validates the effectiveness of industry-academia collaboration in talent development. Moving forward, the joint laboratory will further leverage its resources to help build a comprehensive, multi-level aviation education system, contributing to early cultivation of innovative talent and high-quality development of aviation science education in the region.
