Zhihu (HKG:2390) saw its stock price plummet by 6.61% in pre-market trading on Wednesday, following the release of its disappointing third-quarter financial results. The Chinese online question-and-answer platform reported a substantial increase in losses, raising concerns among investors about the company's financial health and growth prospects.

According to the financial report filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Zhihu's attributable loss for the third quarter of 2025 widened to 46.7 million yuan, a significant increase from the 10.5 million yuan loss recorded in the same period last year. The loss per share rose to 0.19 yuan, compared to 0.04 yuan in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Adding to the company's woes, revenue for the quarter fell to 658.9 million yuan, down from 845 million yuan a year earlier, indicating a challenging business environment.

Despite the disappointing quarterly results, Zhihu reported some positive news for the nine-month period ended September 30. The company managed to turn a profit of 15.7 million yuan for the first three quarters, a notable improvement from the 258.1 million yuan loss in the same period last year. However, this positive development was overshadowed by a significant decline in revenue, which dropped to 2.11 billion yuan from 2.74 billion yuan in the previous year. The mixed results have left investors uncertain about Zhihu's long-term performance and growth trajectory.
