South Korean police raided the headquarters of e-commerce giant Coupang, Inc. for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, intensifying their investigation into a massive personal data breach affecting over 30 million users.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's cyber investigation unit dispatched officers to Coupang's headquarters and secured a search warrant to seize evidence related to the incident. This follows a 10-hour search conducted the previous day.
The investigation was launched after Coupang disclosed that sensitive personal information of 33.7 million users—equivalent to more than half of South Korea's 52 million population—had been compromised.
Authorities have reportedly identified the IP address used in the data breach and are tracking down those responsible for the leak. They are also examining potential technical vulnerabilities in Coupang's user information management system.
