A topic regarding a user who was charged for 25 years of iQiyi membership and encountered difficulties obtaining a refund gained significant attention online on the morning of December 28th.
In response, iQiyi officially stated that they have taken note of Mr. Huang's refund request and immediately initiated a verification process, subsequently starting the refund procedure via the original payment channel. As the user's original account is deactivated, to ensure the security of the funds, the refund will be processed based on the user's specific circumstances after confirming that the receiving account belongs to the same individual who made the original payment.
iQiyi emphasized that user experience and fund security are always their top priorities. The company pledged to maintain active communication with the user to resolve the matter appropriately, with the paramount condition of ensuring fund safety.
According to reports, Mr. Huang, a consumer from Xuchang, Henan province, discovered his iQiyi membership was prepaid for 25 years but subsequently faced challenges when seeking a refund. He explained that family members had been using the account previously, and he only recently realized, upon starting to watch shows himself, that the membership was charged from 2017 all the way to 2043. He remarked, "No matter how much one likes iQiyi, it's unreasonable to prepay for over 20 years; a mortgage is typically only 30 years."
