Micron Technology is furthering its strategic expansion into the artificial intelligence sector by making a new investment in SiMa.ai, with the goal of scaling real-world AI systems.
The collaboration builds upon an existing partnership, concentrating on more efficiently integrating computing and memory, particularly in edge applications where power consumption and speed are critical. SiMa.ai has already incorporated Micron's LPDDR5X memory into its Modalix MLSoC platform, delivering improved bandwidth and lower power usage for applications such as robotics, autonomous systems, and industrial automation. The company also confirmed that modular systems utilizing Micron memory are now being supplied to customers, marking an early stage of commercialization.
A broader context for this partnership is the ongoing shift toward physical AI, where intelligence is embedded directly into machines operating in real-world environments, rather than being confined to the cloud. This trend makes performance-per-watt a crucial factor, and tighter memory integration offers a significant advantage.
