US Insurer Announces Tesla Premium Reduction, Musk Responds: FSD Significantly Enhances Safety

Deep News01-22

Electric vehicle analyst Sawyer Merritt shared news on X that US insurance company Lemonade has announced it will offer Tesla owners a 50% discount on premiums, provided the vehicle's Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature is enabled, as data indicates this function can reduce accident rates.

Lemonade's Co-founder and President, Shai Wininger, stated, "A car that can observe in all directions, never gets drowsy, and reacts in milliseconds is simply incomparable to a human. Beyond today's product launch, we are also announcing our commitment to the Tesla community—as the safety of FSD software continues to improve, our prices will correspondingly decrease."

Musk responded, "With Tesla's Autopilot activated, the insurance premium is halved because it significantly improves safety."
