Since the beginning of this year, the province has actively organized localities to plan and reserve land greening and pest control projects, and solidly carried out project application work. Currently, three land greening projects in Chuxiong Prefecture, Nujiang Prefecture, and Lincang City, and two forest and grassland pest control projects in Honghe Prefecture and Xishuangbanna Prefecture have successfully passed filing with the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and been included in the central forestry and grassland project database. The five projects have a total planned investment of 903 million yuan, with 722 million yuan in central funding support, and a construction period of three years.
Let's look at typical cases of economic and social development across the province.
Yulong County: Potato Industry Stabilizes Income Growth
In recent years, Yulong County in Lijiang City, based on the realities of plateau characteristic agriculture, has made potatoes a key industry for ensuring food security and increasing farmers' incomes. Currently, the county's potato planting area is stable at 90,000 mu, with an annual output value of approximately 330 million yuan, making it an important pillar industry for stable income growth among people in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas.
Yulong County continues to advance the construction of a virus-free seed potato breeding system, initially establishing a tiered breeding chain of tissue culture virus elimination, pre-basic seeds, basic seeds, and production seeds. The county agricultural technology promotion center focuses on key links such as shoot tip stripping, tissue culture rapid propagation, greenhouse transplanting, and pre-basic seed production, regularly carrying out technical training and field guidance services, effectively enhancing the supply capacity of virus-free seed potatoes and slowing seed potato degradation. Currently, the county has the production capacity of 1.6 million tissue culture plantlets and 3.2 million pre-basic seeds annually, providing seed source guarantees for the healthy development of the industry.
Taking into account different regional altitudes, soils, climates, and other production conditions, Yulong County has scientifically formulated regional variety layouts and technical promotion plans, promoting high-ridge cultivation, scientific formula fertilization, green pest control, and other supporting technologies for good varieties and methods. Through years of introduction trials, screening demonstrations, and promotion, a variety system led by "Lishu No. 6," "Qingshu No. 9," and "Lishu No. 7" has been formed, balancing multiple needs such as fresh consumption, processing, and seed potato production, achieving a planting pattern of year-round production and supply.
