Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy issued a statement on October 30 saying two "non-compliant" tankers were involved in an accident while attempting to pass through unauthorized shipping lanes of the Strait of Hormuz, and were later stopped in waters south of the strait.

The statement said the two tankers had switched off all navigation and positioning systems and, with support from U.S. forces, attempted to leave the Strait of Hormuz through unauthorized lanes.

According to the statement, the two tankers ignored multiple Iranian radio warnings before entering an unsafe area, after which an accident occurred and they were ultimately intercepted.

The statement said the "malicious actions" of U.S. forces, along with these vessels' disregard for and violation of Iran's regulations governing the Strait of Hormuz, led to the ships catching fire and ultimately being stopped.
