On March 10, WeChat Coral Security issued a public announcement regarding the handling of non-compliant mini-drama applications. The full text is as follows:

Announcement on Disposal of Non-Compliant Mini-Drama Applications (March 2026)

WeChat is consistently dedicated to fostering a safe, healthy, and positive platform environment. To ensure the standardized operation and orderly development of mini-drama applications on the platform, WeChat strictly implements corporate responsibility.

In accordance with directives from the National Radio and Television Administration and the Guangdong Provincial Radio and Television Administration, the platform has continuously strengthened its review processes and management of mini-drama applications, particularly targeting vulgar, harmful, and infringing content.

Recent platform reviews have identified certain mini-dramas containing content with undesirable value orientations or engaging in copyright infringement. Based on relevant national laws, regulations, the Tencent WeChat Software License Agreement, and the WeChat Mini Program Operation Specifications, the platform has removed dozens of non-compliant mini-dramas. This includes content that is poorly produced or promotes improper values. The platform has also taken action against the mini-programs associated with these violations.

A list of some of the penalized dramas and mini-programs was provided.

Moving forward, WeChat will continue to guide the standardized development of mini-drama applications and collaborate with various stakeholders to create a healthier online audio-visual space.
