On October 20-22, by the banks of Shanghai's Huangpu River, the 2026 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference will return. Nobel Prize and Turing Award winners will take the stage to discuss the future and trends of technology, and the internet-famous professor who "rescues" people from anxiety and the era of involution—Macfarlane—will engage in an on-site dialogue with Xiang Biao!

The city cluster is led by Shanghai and unites 7 provinces—Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui—totaling 14 cities, forming a cross-regional connectivity pattern of "two poles driving, one belt linking." Shanghai International Automobile City, as the third-party supporting unit for Shanghai's city cluster fuel cell vehicle demonstration application project, has provided full support and guarantee for the high-quality implementation of demonstration tasks.

On October 12, the work deployment meeting for the Northeast (including Eastern Inner Mongolia)-Yangtze River Delta Hydrogen Energy Integrated Application Pilot City Cluster was held in Shanghai. The pilot city cluster's technological breakthroughs adopt a model of differentiated division of labor by region and coordinated breakthroughs across the entire industry chain, with Shanghai, Changchun, and Shenyang as the three core breakthrough entities, laying out more than 30 breakthrough tasks across 9 major fields including fuel cells and complete vehicles, hydrogen production electrolyzers, storage and transportation equipment, green ammonia/methanol synthesis equipment, and gas turbines.

The tasks are advanced around the integration of "production-storage-transportation-utilization-trade": in the upstream, wind and solar hydrogen production and green ammonia/methanol bases will be laid out in Jilin and Eastern Inner Mongolia, with a planned annual production of 1.12 million tons of green ammonia and 2.59 million tons of green methanol, building a ten-million-ton-level zero-carbon fuel supply capacity; in the midstream, Liaoning will serve as the hub, relying on Shenyang, Dalian, and Yingkou to build a multimodal storage and transportation network, opening up the north-to-south hydrogen utilization corridor; in the downstream, Shanghai will take the lead in building the Yangshan Port Green Fuel Bunkering and Trading Center (with 280,000 cubic meters of storage tanks and an annual bunkering capacity exceeding 1 million tons), promoting 2,124 fuel cell vehicles and constructing 21 new hydrogen refueling stations, laying out innovative demonstrations for aircraft and hydrogen energy storage, and building a full-chain hydrogen energy high-end equipment ecosystem, forming a hydrogen energy industry ecosystem with north-south linkage and a land-sea closed loop.

Hydrogen energy is a core track for implementing "dual carbon" goals and advancing the energy revolution. The Northeast possesses ten-million-kilowatt-level wind and solar bases and is a core supply region for domestic green hydrogen, green ammonia, and green methanol. The Yangtze River Delta gathers scientific innovation, high-end manufacturing, port shipping, and a massive terminal consumption market, with a solid foundation for green and low-carbon industries. The convening of the work deployment meeting for the Northeast (including Eastern Inner Mongolia)-Yangtze River Delta pilot city cluster marks that the city cluster pilot work has shifted to the implementation stage, and will actively promote the deep integration of the two major national strategies of "Comprehensive Revitalization of the Northeast" and "Integrated Development of the Yangtze River Delta," which has important demonstrative significance for enhancing China's hydrogen energy industry chain development, accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system, consolidating and strengthening the foundation of the real economy, serving the overall national "dual carbon" strategic framework, and supporting Chinese-style modernization with advanced manufacturing.

As the leading city of the city cluster, Shanghai, building on the construction of an international shipping green fuel bunkering center, will resolutely shoulder the coordination responsibility of the city cluster, work with seven provinces and fourteen cities to promote the implementation of various deployments and achieve results, and strive to form a replicable and promotable model for the whole country. On the basis of summarizing the experience from the previous round of fuel cell vehicle demonstration construction, Automobile City Group will continue to deepen its efforts in four major directions: industrial ecosystem construction, digital supervision system construction, science popularization and industry-education integration, promoting the implementation of fuel cell vehicle demonstration scenarios, facilitating upstream and downstream collaboration in the industry chain, and continuously empowering the co-construction of a cross-regional hydrogen energy industry ecosystem and high-quality industrial development.
