CIA Publishes Persian Tutorial on Social Media Instructing Iranians How to Contact the Agency

Deep News02-25

The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) posted a Persian-language tutorial on social media on the 24th, openly instructing Iranians on how to establish contact with U.S. intelligence agencies. This move comes as former President Donald Trump considers military action against Iran.

According to an Associated Press report, a post on social media platform X stated: "Hello. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has heard your calls and is willing to help. Here are some tips on how to have a secure video call with us."

The report noted that the CIA did not disclose specific details of the new guidelines, but this is the latest in a series of recruitment efforts by the agency, which has previously published similar content in other foreign languages.

The CIA's release of Persian-language messages on social media platforms X, Instagram, and YouTube coincides with a sensitive period of heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran. A spokesperson for Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations has not yet commented on the new video.

A new round of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran is scheduled to take place on the 26th in Geneva, Switzerland. The second round of indirect talks between the two countries was held in Geneva on the 17th. Following the talks, officials from both sides stated that, despite existing differences, progress was made compared to the previous round, and both parties agreed to maintain contact. Concurrently, the U.S. has recently amassed a significant military presence in the Middle East. Former President Donald Trump recently acknowledged that he is considering a "limited military strike" against Iran.
