On October 20, a financial frontline message reported that the 2026 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference is being held from October 20 to 22 at the Shanghai Huangpu Expo Park.

Agricultural Bank of China Vice President Wang Wenjin attended the conference and delivered a speech. Wang Wenjin stated that at present, the global governance system is being built at an accelerated pace, technological innovation is driving industrial upgrading, and the concept of sustainability has been deeply integrated into the overall situation of economic and social development, becoming an important engine driving high-quality development. Sustainable finance has also become a shared proposition of the times for banking institutions.

Wang Wenjin shared three reflections on how the financial sector can help build a global governance system. First, in terms of the environment, it is important to actively participate in South-South cooperation on addressing climate change and enhance global climate governance capacity. One of the keys lies in helping Global South countries strengthen their green development capacity. Agricultural Bank of China will continue to innovate financial instruments such as sustainability-linked loans, deepen cross-border green investment and financing cooperation with Southern countries, explore green finance standards suited to Southern national conditions, improve the transparency of information disclosure, and promote the implementation of ESG investment and financing concepts in emerging markets.

Second, in terms of society, it is important to practice the Global Development Initiative and promote common prosperity. Agricultural Bank of China has accumulated practical experience in rural revitalization and common prosperity, and will continue to serve the opening-up of agriculture, smooth international agricultural trade, explore business models that balance food security, livelihood protection, and inclusive development, and contribute Chinese wisdom to global governance.

Third, in terms of AI governance, it is important to promote the building of a fair and reasonable global artificial intelligence governance system, improve science and technology ethics standards, carry out extensive cooperation around data resources, talent cultivation, and application scenarios, promote the upgrading of cross-border finance toward intelligence, scenario-based services, and ecosystem development, and guide the application of AI in the financial sector toward orderly development in a direction that is beneficial, safe, inclusive, and mutually advantageous.
