DONGFANG ELEC (01072) surged nearly 7% in late trading, closing up 6.19% at HKD 21.26 with a turnover of HKD 237 million. The rally follows news that Kazakhstan's Zhambyl region has commenced construction on a 50 MW combined cycle power plant. DONGFANG ELEC's subsidiary provided three self-developed 50 MW heavy-duty gas turbines (codenamed G50) as core equipment for the project, marking the first international deployment of China's independently developed F-class heavy-duty gas turbines.
Huatai Securities noted that DONGFANG ELEC's G50 gas turbine has achieved commercial operation and global expansion. With tight global gas turbine production capacity, the company stands to benefit significantly. The brokerage maintains a "Buy" rating for both A and H shares, citing optimism over the G50's potential to enhance profit flexibility through overseas expansion.
