The United Kingdom will allow the import of diesel and aviation fuel refined from Russian crude oil from countries such as India and Turkey, effectively relaxing certain sanctions against Russia.
A general license, issued late Tuesday and effective from Wednesday, imposes no time limit. This measure applies only to these two fuel types, as significant oil production remains disrupted due to the Iran conflict, with diesel and aviation fuel being particularly affected.
This move eases sanctions that took effect earlier this year, which were designed to curb Russia's ability to generate revenue from its oil and gas sector.
According to Vortexa data, the UK has not imported any diesel or aviation fuel from India since January.
