A bipartisan group of senators has announced an agreement with the Trump administration to advance new legislation imposing sanctions on Russia, signaling a potential escalation of economic pressure on the Kremlin aimed at halting the conflict in Ukraine.

In a statement released on Friday, Republican Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Roger Wicker of Mississippi, alongside Democratic Senators Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, stated, "We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with the Trump administration to move forward with our updated Russian sanctions bill."

They added, "We are very satisfied with this significant progress and anticipate introducing the bill very soon."

The text of the proposed legislation has not yet been released, and it remains unclear what specific changes the new bill contains compared to earlier drafts.
