JD.com Founder Advocates for Open AI Tech Sharing, Labels Barriers as Exploitative

Deep News06-21

JD.com's founder has announced a major policy shift regarding the company's artificial intelligence technology.

At the 2026 APEC CEO Summit China Forum held today, JD.com founder and Chairman of the Board Liu Qiangdong declared that, starting immediately, all of JD's AI technologies will be made available to partners in overseas nations, including those in the Asia-Pacific region.

He expressed a firm stance against the creation of technological barriers.

"We do not wish for any company or any nation to be able to erect numerous technological barriers," Liu stated. "Technological barriers are, in essence, a form of technological exploitation. They plunder the wealth of other countries to serve only one nation or one corporation. That is not what we desire."

During the event, Liu called upon all attending entrepreneurs, research institutions, and government agencies to engage in international cooperation sooner rather than later to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the AI and robotics era.
