Recently, China Construction Bank (CCB) successfully acted as the lead underwriter for the New Development Bank's fourth panda bond issuance in 2025. The bond, with a total issuance size of 3 billion yuan, carries a 3-year term and a coupon rate of 1.88%. It achieved an oversubscription rate of 1.72 times, with the issuance results highly recognized by the issuer.
Since 2016, CCB has participated in 14 panda bond issuances for the New Development Bank. This year, CCB has significantly increased its support for panda bond business, with underwriting volume reaching 13.1 billion yuan, a 128% year-on-year increase, elevating its market ranking to third place. Leveraging its expertise in cross-border bond underwriting, CCB continues to enhance its competitiveness in international markets, meeting the needs of various foreign entities, including Hungary, Morgan Stanley, Barclays Bank, and Suzano, while actively supporting the steady advancement of RMB internationalization.
The New Development Bank, the first international multilateral development institution established and led by the BRICS nations, is headquartered in Shanghai. It aims to support infrastructure and sustainable development projects in BRICS countries and other emerging economies and developing nations. Since entering the panda bond market in 2016, the New Development Bank has become the largest international development institution in terms of panda bond issuance volume.
