Bitcoin's price has surged toward the $64,000 mark, driven by shifting market attention away from the Coldcard security crisis, as the cryptocurrency attempts to break free from its recent volatile trading range. During Tuesday's Asian morning session, Bitcoin rose 2% within 24 hours, achieving a weekly gain of 1% and successfully reclaiming the $63,000 support level that was lost on Monday. The price briefly dipped to $62,250 before rebounding on buying pressure, climbing back above $64,100 overnight.
Major altcoins showed mixed performance: Ethereum held steady at $1,865, with a 1% weekly decline making it the only cryptocurrency with a negative weekly return. Ripple gained nearly 1% to $1.08, posting a 2% weekly increase. Binance Coin rose 1.5% to $591, leading the major coins with a 5% weekly gain. Solana climbed over 1% to $74, TRON added 1% to $0.33, and Dogecoin increased 1% to $0.07. Data compiled by Woofun AI showed that Hyperliquid's HYPE token bounced over 4% to $54, though it still recorded a 3% weekly decline.
Despite the price recovery, the ongoing threat from the fourth wave of Coldcard attacks remains a significant overhang. Monday's attack compromised 709 addresses, resulting in the loss of approximately 449 Bitcoins. Galaxy Research has yet to determine whether a single entity is responsible for the attack.
In global equity markets, the MSCI Asia Pacific Index fell 0.7%, South Korea's KOSPI Composite Index reversed from a 2.1% gain the prior day to a 1.1% decline, and the semiconductor index dropped 1%. US stock futures showed mixed signals: the Nasdaq 100 futures rose 0.4% after Palantir (PLTR.US) surged 14% in after-hours trading, while Amazon (AMZN.US) fell 1.6% in after-hours trading due to Jeff Bezos' selling plan.
A critical focus for traders is whether Bitcoin can hold the $63,000 support level during US market trading hours. This level has been reclaimed and lost twice within three days. A third failure to hold would indicate that buying interest below $62,500 is significantly weakening.
