DingTalk CEO Chen Hang: Innovation is Painful, Faces Internal Resistance

Deep News12:11

DingTalk held its AI DingTalk 1.1 product launch and ecosystem conference today, where its founder and CEO, Chen Hang, delivered a speech.

At the end of the event, Chen Hang stated that the rapid advancement of AI excites him daily. He noted that world-leading companies are shaping a new way of working and living. The AI DingTalk 1.1, codenamed "Mulan," aims to build a fresh ecosystem in the AI era, collaborating with developers and enterprises to create an AI-driven work model. However, he admitted that defining its exact form remains a challenge, as it represents a completely innovative path.

"Innovation in China is actually very painful," Chen said. Internally, teams face significant resistance, with everyone questioning the rationale behind new directions. "I can’t always explain it—I just feel it should be this way. This is part of building a team that truly believes in AI." He added that sustaining innovation means venturing into uncharted territory. Without the support of entrepreneurial teams and clients, the team risks getting lost, like disappearing into a desert.

"Every day, we’re excited to think that we Chinese, Alibaba, and DingTalk have the opportunity to redefine human-centric work in the global AI era," he emphasized. This era isn’t about AI replacing humans but collaborating with various AI agents to make work and life easier and better.
