Langfang Postal Hub's Digital Transformation Drives Express Delivery Acceleration

Deep News07-05

The Langfang Postal Hub in Hebei Province is experiencing a surge in operational efficiency through its digital transformation. Inside the fully automated sorting facility, machinery hums and vehicles flow continuously, presenting a scene of orderly and bustling activity. On high-speed conveyor belts, countless parcels undergo scanning, intelligent sorting, and precise routing. The entire process, from intake to transfer, can be completed in as little as 20 minutes, creating highly efficient "digital postal routes."

The hub commenced operations in 2017 with a total initial investment of 109 million yuan. "From manual sorting to fully intelligent process scheduling, the center's processing capacity and operational efficiency have achieved a qualitative leap," explained Zhang Yunbo, head of the hub's general office.

As Langfang positions modern commercial logistics as its top-priority project, the regional logistics industry's agglomeration advantages are becoming increasingly prominent, leading to steady growth in the hub's business volume. "Today, we have established a major logistics channel connecting 27 provincial capital cities nationwide, with a daily mail processing capacity of up to 1.8 million items," Zhang Yunbo stated. Years of dedicated operation have expanded the hub's service radius, increased its parcel processing and bulk exchange capabilities, and steadily elevated its overall operational management level, establishing it as a crucial node in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional postal logistics network.

Strategically located within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the hub handles the sorting of express, priority, and standard mail for both import and export, manages mail transfers within and outside the province, and oversees inter-regional express exchange and distribution services for Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. Its service coverage includes Langfang, Tangshan, Qinhuangdao, Chengde, Zhangjiakou, and parts of Cangzhou.

In alignment with the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy and to further reduce transit times for intra-regional parcels, the hub has established a dedicated sorting zone for Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei mail. It has upgraded automated sorting equipment, added numerous sorting chutes, and opened nine direct dispatch routes to minimize transfer delays. "Through these optimization measures, the processing efficiency for intra-Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei mail has improved by approximately 40%, making deliveries faster and the experience more satisfactory for the public," Zhang Yunbo noted.

In recent years, the center has focused on building an intelligent digital logistics park, deeply integrating business operations with technology. Cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and AI are comprehensively applied across the entire chain of parcel transfer, personnel scheduling, vehicle allocation, and safety supervision, promoting the digitalization of production factors, the standardization of workflows, and the visualization of operational control.

In the central control and dispatch hall, a large screen updates core business data such as parcel throughput and dispatch directions in real-time. The system can accurately predict business peaks at different times and intelligently allocate resources like staffing positions, transport vehicles, and warehouse bays. "Relying on the AI-powered monitoring system, safety hazards such as workshop violations and cargo congestion can be identified in real-time with automatic alerts, safeguarding the secure and efficient operation of every logistics link and building a robust digital security barrier for the hub's stable functioning," Zhang Yunbo explained.

Moving forward, the Langfang Postal Hub will continue to deepen its commitment to information-based, standardized, and refined operational management. Anchored in its role as a core logistics hub for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, it will strengthen its hardware foundation, optimize workflows, and enhance transfer efficiency. The aim is to amplify the hub's radiating and driving influence, fully empower the development of Langfang's modern commercial logistics industry, and inject strong postal momentum into regional economic coordinated development.
