During a telephonic campaign event for South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham on June 8th local time, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that America will achieve a "total victory" over Iran within the next two weeks.
Trump indicated that negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are ongoing, with Iran expressing a desire to reach an agreement and a willingness to accept key American conditions, including the stipulation of not possessing nuclear weapons. He elaborated further: "I think we are winning this fight, and the real victory is going to come within the next two weeks. When we announce total victory, it will be a complete victory, and it's going to happen very soon. When that happens, the price of oil will drop significantly."
It is noted that this is not the first instance Trump has referenced a "two-week" timeframe for a major breakthrough. The U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement announced on April 7th Eastern Time was initially also set to last for "two weeks," intended to allow both parties to finalize negotiations on an agreement to end the conflict.
