Kylian Mbappe's Weibo Account Suspended, Following Xiaohongshu Ban and Restrictions

Deep News10-27

Kylian Mbappe's Weibo account has been suspended, according to reports on October 27. Previously, the French football star's Xiaohongshu account had already been muted and barred from gaining new followers.

Earlier, the official Xiaohongshu account management team issued a statement declaring that the platform firmly opposes any actions that harm national sentiment. Upon verification, Xiaohongshu had entered into a content partnership with Kylian Mbappe in 2024, but that collaboration concluded on December 31, 2024. The platform is currently conducting ongoing reviews and removing related materials. The statement expressed gratitude to the public and users for their attention.

Several brands have also released statements announcing the termination of their partnerships with Kylian Mbappe, including Milkground, Mengniu Dairy, and Dongpeng Beverage Group.

The controversy stems from recent remarks reportedly made by Mbappe, who plays for Real Madrid, during an interview that were deemed inappropriate regarding China.

Weibo-SW (WB-SW) has not issued a public comment on the account suspension as of the time of this report.
