Mercedes-Benz CEO Open to Defense Sector Entry

Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kallenius stated that the German automaker is willing to enter the defense production sector, provided it is "commercially viable."

Kallenius remarked, "The world has become more unpredictable, and I believe there is no doubt that Europe needs to strengthen its defense capabilities... If we can play a positive role in this process, we would be happy to do so."

He further noted that, compared to automotive production, defense-related business would constitute only a "very small part" of the company's operations. However, he added that it could represent a "growing niche business" that could help enhance performance. "So, we will see how it develops," Kallenius concluded.
