CHINA SOUTH AIR Reports 4.23% Year-on-Year Rise in July Passenger Capacity

CHINA SOUTH AIR (01055) has released its July operational data, showing a 4.23% year-on-year increase in passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers).

Domestic and international capacity rose 2.34% and 10.30% respectively, while regional capacity declined 1.45%. Passenger turnover (measured by revenue passenger kilometers) grew 5.25% year-on-year, with domestic and international segments up 4.40% and 8.18% respectively, while regional turnover fell 3.22%.

The passenger load factor reached 85.20%, a rise of 0.82 percentage points year-on-year. Domestically, the load factor increased by 1.70 percentage points, while regional and international load factors dropped by 1.48 and 1.61 percentage points respectively.

On the cargo side, July cargo capacity (measured by available tonne-kilometers for freight and mail) increased 3.06% year-on-year. Cargo and mail turnover (measured by revenue tonne-kilometers for freight and mail) rose 0.84%, while the cargo load factor stood at 49.79%, a decrease of 1.09 percentage points.

In July, the company added one new route: Fuzhou-Manila-Fuzhou, operating four flights per week. The fleet saw the addition of eight aircraft, including two A320NEO, three A321NEO, two B737-8, and one C919. Seven aircraft were retired, comprising one A319, two B787-8, two B737-700, and two B737-800. As of the end of July, the total fleet consisted of 974 transport aircraft.
