EU Fails to Reach Consensus on 21st Round of Sanctions Against Russia

Deep News07-11

On the 10th local time, a correspondent learned that EU member states failed to reach an agreement on the 21st round of sanctions against Russia that day, with discussions set to continue.

According to sources within the EU, the main points of contention among the parties involve the price cap on Russian crude oil, restrictions on the entry of Russian military personnel, and the list of specific targets for sanctions.

On June 9th, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the 21st round of sanctions measures against Russia had been submitted to member states, primarily targeting the energy, finance, and fisheries sectors. According to relevant EU procedures, new sanctions measures must be unanimously approved by all 27 member states before they can take effect.
