On May 21st, the inaugural Traditional Chinese (Tibetan) Medicine Wellness Culture Promotion event commenced at the Huangzhong District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Xining, Qinghai Province. The event aims to make traditional medicine culture tangible, accessible, and enjoyable for the public. Its objectives include deeply exploring the ecological and ethnic medical resources of the plateau region, popularizing the concept of "preventive treatment of disease" in high-altitude areas, and fostering the deep integration of traditional Chinese (Tibetan) medicine with wellness, cultural tourism, and public welfare.
The event featured multiple zones, including areas for promoting traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicine culture, providing free medical consultation and diagnostic services, demonstrating and allowing hands-on experience with appropriate techniques, showcasing intangible cultural heritage skills of traditional Chinese (Tibetan) medicine, exhibiting and offering tastings of medicinal cuisine, interactive experience areas, and health education sections. These zones allowed attendees to experience the unique therapeutic effects of traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicine up close.
Previously, a results release conference for the "Chinese Medical Treasury · Tibetan Medicine Volume" was held in Beijing. This publication systematically compiles 94 precious documents, including classic works of Tibetan medicine from various dynasties, clinical diagnosis and treatment experiences, and drug processing techniques. It comprehensively presents the unique theoretical system, diagnostic and treatment experiences, and documentary essence of Tibetan medicine, representing the latest landmark achievement in the collation and preservation of ancient medical texts from China's ethnic minorities.
As the core birthplace of Hehuang culture, Huangzhong District boasts a long history of traditional Chinese (Tibetan) medicine inheritance and a deep-rooted foundation among the populace.
In recent years, the traditional Chinese (Tibetan) medicine service system in Huangzhong District has been continuously improved, with grassroots diagnostic and treatment service capabilities consistently upgraded. Multiple intangible cultural heritage traditional techniques, such as Tibetan medicine moxibustion therapy and Tibetan medicine bathing therapy, have been passed down and revitalized. The development of specialized medical departments has progressed steadily, and the team of professional talents continues to grow.
"Targeting diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, the hospital has developed specialized medicinal bath therapies tailored to the needs of different patients. Currently, the hospital routinely conducts over 50 various Tibetan medical diagnosis and treatment projects," said Sangje Dongzhi, Director of the Treatment Center at the Huangzhong District Tibetan Medicine Hospital.
Li Fuchun, Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department at the Tianjiazhai Central Health Center in Huangzhong District, explained that the center introduced intelligent AI pulse diagnosis equipment last November. This equipment can interpret data and analyze reports for approximately 80% of basic diagnostic items, serving as an auxiliary tool. Professional physicians then conduct refined analysis and personalized interpretation by combining it with clinical experience, achieving an organic integration of traditional diagnostic experience with modern intelligent technology.
The event was organized by the Qinghai Provincial Health Commission, the Xining Municipal Health Commission, the Huangzhong District Federation of Trade Unions in Xining, and the Huangzhong District Health Bureau of Xining.
