Oil Prices Decline as Fears Over Supply Disruption Continue to Ease

Deep News07:50

Oil prices fell in early trading as concerns over supply disruptions in the Middle East continued to subside.

Analysts at Citi Investment Research stated in a research report, "While the U.S.-Iran process remains fragile and disputes over the management of the [Strait of Hormuz] and transit fees persist, we expect the [memorandum of understanding] to remain effective and translate into an agreement in the coming months."

These analysts added, "Shipping volumes [through the strait] are returning to normal."

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway through which one-fifth of the world's oil typically flows.

Near-month West Texas Intermediate crude futures declined by 0.3% to $68.46 per barrel.
