According to a report by The Korea Economic Daily citing unnamed industry sources, Samsung Electronics is planning to construct a new DRAM manufacturing facility in Giheung, South Korea.

The plant is projected to have a monthly wafer production capacity of approximately 100,000 units.

The investment required for this project is estimated to be in the range of tens of trillions of Korean won.

The land for this facility was initially designated for a research and development center.

Market analysis interprets this move as a strategic response to the persistently rising demand for memory chips, driven by the ongoing boom in artificial intelligence infrastructure investments.

Construction on the project could commence as early as the third quarter of this year.
