The China Association for Science and Technology's Enterprise Innovation Service Center has recently unveiled the 2026 list of pilot sites for Spark Science and Technology Museums in parks and enterprises. Among the ten units selected in Zhejiang Province, the Xiuzhou Photovoltaic Town Industrial Park stands out as the only representative from its city to earn this national designation.
This initiative marks the first time in 2026 that the China Association for Science and Technology has introduced such pilot science museums, aiming to establish a new model for science popularization within industrial parks and enterprises. The Xiuzhou Photovoltaic Science and Technology Museum, located within the park, spans approximately 8,900 square meters and features a striking exterior constructed with cadmium telluride photovoltaic thin-film glass curtain walls. This innovative design enables the building itself to generate power, with a total installed capacity of around 400 kilowatts peak.
The museum has developed four themed educational programs focusing on photovoltaics, residential green energy, wind power generation, and aerospace solar technology. Since undergoing upgrades, it has welcomed over 26,000 visitors and hosted more than 600 free guided tours, showcasing its role as an engaging public learning space.
Observers have praised the museum's self-powering capability, noting that Xiuzhou's "real-world classroom" offers a unique educational experience not found elsewhere. Others highlight how transforming the industry chain into a public learning platform effectively attracts and retains visitor interest, making complex technologies accessible to all.
