The 2026 maritime export season for fish fry from Hainan concluded successfully on August 28th, when the Sao Tome and Principe-flagged transport vessel "OCEAN KING" departed Xincun Port in Lingshui, Hainan, carrying 100,000 spotted fish fry destined for Hong Kong, China.
Leveraging Hainan's tropical marine resource advantages and the policy benefits of the Free Trade Port, the province's aquatic seedling foreign trade industry has continued to expand and upgrade in scale and quality. This year, the variety of fry exported by sea from Hainan has grown steadily, now encompassing high-quality species such as amberjack, golden pompano, grouper, cobia, and spotted fish, with these specialty aquatic seedlings reaching numerous overseas countries and regions.
Data from the Sanya Immigration Inspection Station reveals that border inspection authorities across Hainan have processed a total of 70 fry transport vessel entries and exits this year, facilitating the export of approximately 6.01 million fry with a combined value of about 142 million yuan. Cai Tianguang, Deputy General Manager of Hainan Chenhai Aquaculture Co., Ltd., noted that the fry bred by his company have gained wide recognition in overseas markets for their stable quality and high survival rates. He added that export volumes have grown substantially this year and the company will continue to broaden its international sales channels to enhance the reputation of Hainan's aquatic seedling brands.
Given the high demands for clearance efficiency and handling conditions in live fry exports, the border inspection authorities have implemented a one-stop clearance model featuring proactive services, simplified procedures, and coordinated operations. Gao Cunxi, a political instructor at the Sanya station's second duty team, explained that this approach ensures fry vessels experience "zero waiting" upon arrival and "zero delay" when departing, effectively reducing costs and improving efficiency for export enterprises. To continuously optimize the port business environment and precisely serve the development of specialty industries, the Xiuying and Sanya immigration inspection stations have moved their services to the forefront, implementing convenience measures such as online declarations and appointment-based inspections. They have also positioned their inspection and supervision work directly at the fry loading sites while strengthening coordination with customs and maritime departments to minimize clearance times and ensure efficient passage for live aquatic product exports.
Looking ahead, border inspection authorities stated they will continue to refine the dedicated clearance support mechanism for live aquatic products, deepen multi-department collaboration, and leverage precise and efficient services to drive the upgrading of Hainan's aquatic seedling foreign trade industry, injecting strong momentum into the development of the Free Trade Port's export-oriented economy.
