Amap, a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, has announced that it has fully optimized its app for the new device form factor of the iPhone Duo, covering everything from screen presentation to interaction experience, and will soon introduce the world's first split-screen navigation feature designed specifically for foldable iPhones.
When users switch between the inner and outer screens of the iPhone Duo or change the device orientation, Amap can now automatically adjust the interface layout based on screen size and direction, reasonably allocating map and functional areas. Meanwhile, Amap has also optimized the system operation bar and the interaction for switching between inner and outer screens, making daily operations more convenient.
In driving navigation scenarios, users need to know which lane to take immediately while also understanding the route ahead and overall traffic conditions in advance. To address this, Amap has designed the world's first split-screen navigation feature for foldable iPhones. Through an innovative split-screen layout, this feature enables dual-view coordination for driving navigation: the left side of the screen displays lane-level navigation, providing detailed guidance for roads and lanes, while the right side shows the upcoming route on a regular map, presenting longer-distance routes and traffic conditions ahead. The two views are displayed side by side, allowing users to clearly see immediate driving instructions while also grasping the route ahead in advance.
The dual-view coordination design is also applied to location exploration. For example, before a weekend gathering with friends, users can browse locations, street rankings, and recommendation information on the left side of the screen while simultaneously viewing the location of relevant restaurants on the right side. This way, when choosing a restaurant, users can not only learn about recommendation information but also directly see the restaurant's location, making comprehensive selections based on distance and other factors.
On the iPhone Duo, Amap also supports split-screen display with other applications. Users can discuss gathering plans with friends while viewing maps or restaurant details, ensuring both communication and location selection proceed without interruption.
