Amazon Data Services, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, has agreed to purchase the Virginia Science and Technology Campus of George Washington University in Ashburn, Virginia, for $427 million. The university announced the transaction on Monday.
According to the university’s announcement, the agreement authorizes Amazon.com to develop a data or information technology center on the campus. Amazon.com has not yet commented on the deal. The Washington-based George Washington University stated that the agreement allows the school the option to continue operating certain programs at the campus over the next five years.
