On August 18th, the "Zhejiang Going Global" - "1+N" Cross-Border E-Commerce Enterprise Assistance Action (Sanmen Session) matchmaking salon was held in Sanmen, Taizhou, Zhejiang. Representatives from cross-border e-commerce platforms and overseas expansion service providers engaged in face-to-face exchanges with local businesses, tackling topics such as store operations, compliance risk management, and cross-border payments.

Zhejiang's cross-border e-commerce sector has experienced robust growth in recent years, emerging as a new engine for foreign trade. As a key industrial county within Taizhou, Sanmen boasts distinctive industrial clusters in outdoor jackets, auto parts, and rubber products, which hold significant potential for cross-border development.

Currently, local enterprises are highly eager to expand overseas, yet they face numerous bottlenecks and difficulties when venturing into the cross-border e-commerce arena, creating a pressing demand for professional, one-stop services. In response, the salon featured segments including policy interpretation, practical experience sharing, and one-on-one consultations, all designed to build a bridge for communication and connection to help businesses go global smoothly.

Chen Zhe, Procurement Director at JD.com's Joybuy, shared his perspectives on brand globalization from a platform standpoint and analyzed how different overseas markets vary in their category preferences. "This time, we aim to recruit categories such as kitchen appliances, baby products, and manual and power tools. We hope to connect with more high-quality source factories and work together with supply chain partners to build a strong reputation for 'Made in China'," he stated.

While joining a platform is the first step in cross-border e-commerce, long-term success also hinges on crucial aspects like compliance risk control and payment settlement. During the event, representatives from compliance service providers and payment institutions offered practical, down-to-earth advice to the attending businesses. "The European market has strong purchasing power, but the compliance threshold is getting higher and higher," said Xu Feiyang, Regional Manager for East China at Weikangpai (Hangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. He noted that the EU has rolled out a dense array of new regulations in recent years, and many companies have taken detours due to unfamiliarity with local rules. On-site, he detailed the compliance challenges and solutions for businesses, covering environmental compliance, intellectual property protection, and overseas investment filing.

Additionally, a representative from PayPal shared customized payment solutions and a guide to avoiding capital risks, tailored to the unique characteristics of Sanmen's industrial clusters. Chen Lijun, head of Zhejiang Baolong Outdoor Products Co., Ltd., which has been involved in cross-border e-commerce for over two decades, faced hurdles in acquiring new customers. After listening to the presentations, she proactively approached the platforms for consultation. "Many companies in Sanmen are planning cross-border transformations, but going it alone often leads to pitfalls. Having events like this right at our doorstep brings real, tangible benefits," she admitted.

"We hope everyone leaves with solutions, not just questions," said Yang Xiaoping, Vice President of the Zhejiang Council for the Promotion of International Trade. He emphasized that the council will continue to polish the "Zhejiang Going Global" service brand, strengthen its role as a bridge and link, and connect more high-quality platforms and professional service providers to help county-level enterprises navigate the seas of global commerce steadily and far.
