On July 23rd, 2025, six students from Northeastern University were visiting and studying the flotation process at the concentrator of the Wunugetushan copper-molybdenum mine operated by China Gold Group Inner Mongolia Mining Co., Ltd., a controlling subsidiary of Zhongjin Gold Corp.,Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), when grid plates collapsed and they fell into flotation tanks. After full rescue efforts, six people were retrieved, but medical personnel confirmed they had drowned. Additionally, one teacher was injured.

After the incident occurred, company leadership attached great importance to it, immediately activated emergency response plans, went to the scene at the first opportunity to organize handling, and promptly reported to relevant local government departments according to relevant procedures. Currently, all disposal work is proceeding in an orderly manner.

According to reports, on July 23rd, an informed source at the school told reporters that the victims were students from the School of Resources and Civil Engineering, majoring in mineral processing engineering. This was an internship organized by the school, requiring all approximately fifty to sixty students in the program who were transitioning from junior to senior year to participate, and it was linked to graduation requirements. The informed source said they knew one of the victims, who had good academic performance, and felt regret for his passing.
