Long-term European government bond yields rose, tracking a jump in US Treasury yields after US inflation came in above expectations, boosting rate hike expectations.

The 2-year German bund yield fell 2 basis points to 3.13%; European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said that rising energy prices have not yet passed through to the broader economy, a remark that supported short-term bonds.

UK gilts rose, led by short-term bonds, after Bank of England Chief Economist Huw Pill hinted that the market is pricing in too much UK rate tightening.
