Xinjiang's railway authorities have announced a plan to operate 100 tourist trains in the current year. The initiative was revealed during a recent event titled "Tianshan Snow Lotus · Silk Road New Journey," which served as a launch platform for the railway's 2026 tourism products and the upgraded New Oriental Express. The railway department aims to enhance the influence of its "Tianshan Snow Lotus" service brand. A strategic approach will be adopted, focusing on increasing direct routes between northern and southern Xinjiang, establishing services in prefectures without current coverage, improving the quality of intercity travel, inviting operators from other regions, promoting outbound tourism, and offering customized trips for specific needs. This will help enrich a multi-level tourism product matrix that includes the New Oriental Express, the Tianshan trains, and standard tourist trains, enabling visitors to explore Xinjiang's scenic beauty by rail. The tourist trains will operate beyond geographical and seasonal constraints. In addition to the classic tours circling northern and southern Xinjiang, new premium inter-provincial routes will be introduced, covering southwestern and northeastern China, as well as Hong Kong and Macao. Regular services will be maintained from March through October. To cater to winter tourism enthusiasts, the "China's Snow Capital · My Altay" snow-and-ice themed train, which offers overnight journeys, will continue to run throughout the winter season.
