According to CINNO Research, the global AMOLED smartphone panel market continued its steady growth trajectory in 2025. Data from CINNO Research indicates that worldwide shipments of AMOLED smartphone panels reached approximately 920 million units, marking a 4.7% year-over-year increase and setting a new historical record. Although the growth rate moderated compared to the previous two years, the overall trend remained upward. This growth was primarily fueled by sustained, stable demand for high refresh rates, flexible displays, and low-power screens in premium smartphones, coupled with structural upgrades as AMOLED technology increasingly penetrated mid-range models. However, the significant slowdown in growth rate also has structural causes: on one hand, the penetration rate of AMOLED in smartphones continues to rise, particularly approaching saturation in the mid-to-high-end market, narrowing the scope for new demand and leading to a natural deceleration in year-over-year growth; on the other hand, persistent cost increases for certain core components like memory in 2025 intensified overall Bill of Materials (BOM) cost pressures, forcing manufacturers to strictly control costs. Some brands opted to delay the adoption of flexible AMOLED in mid-range models, thereby curbing further expansion of AMOLED panel shipments.
Regionally, in the 2025 global AMOLED smartphone panel market, South Korean manufacturers held a 49.4% share. Chinese manufacturers, however, captured a 50.6% share of shipments, increasing by 1.3 percentage points year-over-year. This marks the first time their annual share has surpassed 50%, representing a historic milestone. This signifies the continuous enhancement of Chinese manufacturers' influence and competitiveness within the global AMOLED industry chain. In terms of competitive landscape, Samsung Display's (SDC) shipment volume grew by 0.7% year-over-year in 2025, but its market share narrowed to 41.5% from 43.2% the previous year, a decline of 1.7 percentage points. This was mainly due to persistently shrinking demand for its mainstay rigid AMOLED panels, alongside intensified loss of orders for mid-to-low-end flexible screens. BOE delivered a standout performance, with shipments surging 9.0% year-over-year. It secured the second position globally and remained the top domestic supplier with a 16.3% market share, which increased by 0.6 percentage points year-over-year. Its growth momentum stemmed from large-scale penetration in the mid-range market and continuous breakthroughs in the high-end segment, with particularly notable technological advantages in the foldable display arena. Visionox saw its shipments grow by 3.3% year-over-year, holding an 11.1% market share. Although this represented a slight decrease of 0.2 percentage points year-over-year, it maintained its position as the third-largest globally and second-largest domestically. The minor fluctuation in its share was primarily influenced by product cycle adjustments from key clients, leading to short-term shipment pressure. Nonetheless, its technological competitiveness in the mid-range market and solid foundation of customer partnerships remain robust, indicating an overall stable development trend.
In the fourth quarter, driven by a combination of major promotional events both domestically and internationally and a密集 release of new models, demand for AMOLED smartphone panels remained robust. Despite continuously rising upstream memory prices, the buffering effect of inventory meant the impact on smartphone market demand had not yet materialized. CINNO Research data shows that global AMOLED smartphone panel shipments in the fourth quarter of 2025 reached approximately 260 million units, increasing 6.1% year-over-year and 4.2% quarter-over-quarter, achieving growth both annually and sequentially. Regionally, in the fourth quarter of 2025, South Korean manufacturers accounted for 49.2% of the global AMOLED smartphone panel market. Chinese manufacturers' shipment share reached 50.8%, rising 2.6 percentage points year-over-year, indicating an acceleration of the domestic substitution trend towards the year's end. Looking at the competitive landscape in Q4 2025, Samsung Display's (SDC) AMOLED smartphone panel shipments increased 7.0% year-over-year but decreased 2.2% quarter-over-quarter. Its market share was 40.7%, up 0.3 percentage points year-over-year. Although showing some recovery, it remained just at the 40% level, indicating a continued weakening of its market dominance. BOE's AMOLED smartphone panel shipments grew 2.8% quarter-over-quarter, with its global market share stabilizing at 15.5%. Accelerated technological iteration and optimized customer structure provided strong support for consolidating its market share. Tianma's AMOLED smartphone panel shipments surged 20.0% year-over-year, a standout performance. Its market share increased by 1.3 percentage points year-over-year to 11.6%, with growth primarily benefiting from stable orders from key clients and well-matched capacity release schedules.
