Ekins-Daukes, Director of the Materials and Manufacturing Futures Institute (MMFI) Professor Sean Li, and Executive Director of the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACAP) Professor Renate Egan.

**High-Level Strategic Dialogue on Green Energy Future** During the visit, multiple high-level meetings were held. Ja Solar first met with a UNSW delegation led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Stephen Rodda. Rodda warmly welcomed the Ja Solar team, expressing UNSW’s willingness to engage in comprehensive collaboration to provide visionary direction and high-value solutions for global energy transition challenges. Yang Aiqing thanked UNSW for its long-standing support and emphasized that deepening open innovation with world-leading institutions is a core strategy for Ja Solar to consolidate technological leadership and drive industry progress.

Separately, Ja Solar held a dedicated meeting with Professor Martin Green. The two sides discussed future trends in photovoltaic technology, particularly the industrialization pathways for cutting-edge innovations like ultra-high-efficiency solar cells. Professor Green praised Ja Solar’s sustained large-scale R&D investments and technological iteration capabilities, expressing hope that the joint laboratory would accelerate the incubation and commercialization of breakthroughs. Ouyang Zi noted that collaborative ultra-high-efficiency cell projects with Professor Green’s team have achieved promising progress, with potential for mass production at lower costs and higher performance, targeting a conversion efficiency breakthrough of 29.4%.

**Exploring Photovoltaic Research Hub to Strengthen Joint Innovation** The delegation visited the globally renowned Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACAP). As a national research center funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency, ACAP brings together top-tier researchers, leading advancements in high-efficiency silicon-based cells, tandem technologies, emerging materials, and sustainable PV development. The team reviewed the latest R&D progress and held constructive discussions with UNSW scholars on global market trends and commercialization strategies.

Additionally, both parties visited the UNSW-JA Solar Joint Laboratory for a tour and group photo. Since its inception in 2024, the lab has become a key symbol of industry-academia integration, focusing on PV cells, module technologies, advanced materials, carbon reduction, and other critical areas to translate scientific breakthroughs into market-ready solutions. The delegation also toured UNSW’s School of Materials Science and Engineering labs to further explore the university’s capabilities and achievements in related fields.

Notably, Ja Solar’s BC platform innovation—the patented "Fine Grid Interconnection" technology—received high praise from UNSW researchers. The technology aligns closely with UNSW’s vision for next-generation metallization solutions in BC cells. UNSW’s team expressed interest in co-developing the innovation, while Ja Solar aims to expedite its mass production to deliver value for global customers.
