On October 16, a financial news flash reported that the Global Wealth Management Forum · 2026 Shanghai Suhewan Conference was held in Shanghai from October 16 to 17, 2026, with Xu Jingwei, Head of Global Listing Services at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd. (ASX: HKEX), attending and speaking at the conference.
Xu Jingwei said that in China, TMT and the broader AI theme are extremely hot, especially over the past few years, and this is clearly one of the key themes of recent years. In this regard, TMT and AI issuance in Hong Kong this year has been very strong, accounting for about 70% of this year's IPO proceeds. At the same time, in terms of equity and equity-related issuance, it accounted for 50% of issuance. Encouragingly, capital financing has been seen across various TMT verticals and new TMT, as well as energy transition and TMT spanning healthcare, automotive and energy transition, among others.
Xu Jingwei highlighted two points of information: "First, TMT is a key area for issuance, and we are also a very open market, so we are very open to companies from the industrial sector, especially companies in the new energy sector, including companies in consumer goods and healthcare, in raising funds. Second, we play an increasingly important role in the Hong Kong capital market, which is to help Chinese companies go global. In this regard, for companies from mainland China, many companies conducted IPOs at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange this year, and about 60% of these IPO companies actually have international overseas revenue."
Xu Jingwei emphasized that the capital market has played a very important role in helping these companies go international. Regarding the situation in Hong Kong and Shanghai and the long-term complementary relationship and partnership between the two sides, he introduced that starting in 2014, the two exchanges launched Stock Connect, which is a stock connectivity mechanism between the two exchanges.
