At the 4th China International Supply Chain Expo (CSCE), which opened on June 22, 2026, global biopharmaceutical leader Sanofi participated with the theme "Linking with China, Co-creating a New Health Ecosystem."

Present in the Healthy Living Chain exhibition area, the company showcased its comprehensive, innovation-driven, end-to-end value chain capabilities in China through four key displays: the Health China Value Chain, the Scientific Breakthrough Innovation Chain, the Digital Future Smart Manufacturing Chain, and the Public Health Protection Chain.

These exhibits highlighted Sanofi's latest efforts to connect global research, local manufacturing, and China's public health initiatives.

Sanofi's Commitment to the Chinese Market

During the event, the President of Sanofi Greater China, Shi Wang, emphasized China's role as a critical strategic market.

He stated that building a resilient and evolving local end-to-end value chain is a core commitment to deepening the company's roots in China and benefiting patients, in response to the nation's growing healthcare demands.

He expressed that Sanofi aims to leverage the expo as a hub for open collaboration to bridge global innovation with local needs, accelerating the delivery of innovative solutions to meet the health requirements of Chinese patients and contribute to the "Healthy China" initiative.

Three-Year Participation and Local Footprint

As one of the first multinational corporations to enter China following its reform and opening-up, Sanofi has established a significant local presence.

The company operates three production bases and four major R&D centers in the country, focusing on key chronic disease areas such as cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory, and oncology diseases, as well as critical needs in immunology, transplantation, and rare diseases.

Annually, Sanofi provides immunoprophylaxis to over 5 million people in China, with its innovative medicines benefiting nearly 300 million chronic disease patients.

Showcasing Strategic Investments and Innovations

At this year's expo, Sanofi highlighted major achievements from its deepened China strategy.

On the manufacturing front, the company spotlighted its Beijing insulin active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production base, which broke ground earlier this year with a record single investment in China of approximately €1 billion.

The new facility is set to accelerate production transformation through the integration of real-time data analytics and AI automation technologies.

It will work in synergy with Sanofi's existing production sites in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou to form a high-quality supply chain network covering from APIs to finished formulations.

In research and innovation, Sanofi is accelerating the local translation of global scientific advancements.

With the recent opening of its first China Innovation and Operations Center in Chengdu and the strategic upgrade of its Shanghai R&D Center, about one-third of Sanofi's new global research projects are planned to be conducted in China.

The company also ensures China's participation in over 90% of its global synchronous development projects.

Sanofi is deepening collaborations within the local innovation ecosystem to comprehensively accelerate the clinical application and implementation of novel therapies, aiming to more efficiently address China's unique disease profile.

Furthermore, Sanofi used the platform to foster value dialogue across the industrial chain and presented a comprehensive overview of the development history of its vaccine business in China, including the complete local journey of its influenza vaccine from strain transportation and production to public vaccination.
