CITIC Bank Shanghai Branch Urges Non-Performing Loan Disposal Under Postdoctoral Leader Zhu Yiming

Deep News07-28

CITIC Bank Shanghai Branch President Zhu Yiming has been actively participating in multiple seminars, symposiums, and forum events. In April, he attended a meeting between Shanghai Songjiang District and CITIC Bank Shanghai Branch. In May, he was present at the 2026 State-Owned Enterprises Cross-Border Business Seminar, and in June, he joined the 2026 Lujiazui Financial Forum. He consistently emphasizes the importance of cross-border and offshore finance, striving to expand CITIC Bank Shanghai Branch's business operations.

Zhu Yiming is highly dedicated. He was transferred to lead CITIC Bank Shanghai Branch in late 2025, succeeding Zhao Yuanxin, who had been promoted to general manager of the headquarters' credit execution department. Prior to this role, Zhu Yiming served as the president of CITIC Bank Shijiazhuang Branch. Moving from Shijiazhuang to Shanghai has significantly increased his responsibilities. Within the CITIC Bank system, the Shanghai branch is the third-largest in scale, trailing only the Beijing and Hangzhou branches.

As of the end of 2025, CITIC Bank Shanghai Branch had 62 outlets, one more than the previous year, and total assets of 639.066 billion yuan, up 16.16% year-on-year. In 2024, the branch employed 2,317 people, though 2025 staff numbers were not disclosed. Within CITIC Bank's Yangtze River Delta region, the Shanghai branch still has room for growth. For comparison, the Hangzhou branch's assets surpassed 700 billion yuan in 2025. The bank's potential in the Yangtze River Delta is substantial. By the end of 2025, CITIC Bank's total loans reached 5.862172 trillion yuan, with the Yangtze River Delta region holding the highest loan balance at 1.74615 trillion yuan, accounting for 29.8%. To maintain this lending advantage, the Shanghai branch cannot afford to lag behind. Zhu Yiming must fully leverage his management skills to drive the branch's growth.

From his background, Zhu Yiming is an academic-oriented management talent. He holds a postdoctoral degree from Nankai University, a bachelor's from Hunan University in 1997, a master's from the University of International Business and Economics in 2004, and a PhD in philosophy from Nankai University in 2008. From 2008 to 2011, he conducted postdoctoral research at Nankai University's School of Economics. In 2021, he became an adjunct professor at Hunan University's School of Finance and Statistics. His academic journey, transitioning from economics to philosophy and then to research in economic history and social psychology, is quite rare in his field.

Professionally, he began his career at the China Civil Aviation Administration's Economic Development Center and Harvest Fund, joining CITIC Bank in 2004. He has held various roles in the custody center, corporate banking department, and transaction banking department. Amid a busy schedule, Zhu Yiming has continued to pursue academic development, maintaining a learning-oriented mindset. As a versatile professional, there is much anticipation about how he will lead CITIC Bank Shanghai Branch to new heights.

However, the branch currently faces several pressing issues. First is the accelerated disposal of non-performing loans. On the Silver Deng platform, CITIC Bank Shanghai Branch has announced two personal non-performing loan transfer projects. The first, the 2026 Phase 3 project, involves a debt amount of 75.9834 million yuan, with a weighted average borrower age of 44 years, an average overdue period of 857 days, and 1,729 loans. The average single loan value is 32,700 yuan, offering significant recovery potential. The second, the 2026 Phase 4 project, has a debt amount of 128 million yuan, with a weighted average borrower age of 45.98 years, an average overdue period of 1,022.13 days, and 815 loans. The average single loan value is 119,500 yuan, also with good recovery prospects. Together, these two projects total over 200 million yuan in debt across 2,544 loan items.

Second is strengthening compliance controls. On July 21, the National Financial Regulatory Administration disclosed that CITIC Bank Shanghai Branch was fined 800,000 yuan for serious violations of prudent operational rules in employee behavior management and loan management.
