Shenzhen Launches Major Consumer Spending Initiative Starting May 1st

Shenzhen has announced the commencement of its "Shenzhen Engagement, Enjoy Life" consumer promotion campaign in 2026. To implement national, provincial, and municipal decisions aimed at boosting consumption and expanding domestic demand, the city will launch a series of activities starting May 1, 2026. These initiatives include subsidies for purchasing new automobiles and electronics, special product subsidies, and dining vouchers, delivering consumption benefits directly to households.

1. New Automobile Purchase Subsidy Implementation Period: May 1 to December 31, 2026 (the campaign may end early if subsidy funds are exhausted). Subsidy Details and Standards: Individual consumers who purchase new energy vehicles or fuel-powered passenger cars meeting China's National VI emission standards during the policy period are eligible for a one-time purchase subsidy. The subsidy is divided into three tiers based on the vehicle's price: a subsidy of 2,000 RMB per vehicle for purchases priced between 60,000 RMB (inclusive) and 80,000 RMB (exclusive); 4,000 RMB per vehicle for purchases priced between 80,000 RMB (inclusive) and 150,000 RMB (exclusive); and 5,000 RMB per vehicle for purchases priced at 150,000 RMB or above. The vehicle price is the final sales price after deducting all production and distribution discounts, based on the tax-inclusive price on the sales invoice. The purchase date is determined by the invoice date. Each consumer is eligible for the subsidy only once. The vehicle must be registered under the applicant's name during the review period. This subsidy cannot be combined with the 2026 vehicle replacement or scrappage renewal policies. Consumers can submit applications through the Dongchedi APP, with the application portal opening soon.

2. New Electronics Purchase Subsidy Implementation Period: May 1 to December 31, 2026 (the campaign may end early if subsidy funds are exhausted). Subsidy Details and Standards: Individual consumers who purchase eligible electronics—including mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches (or bands), and smart glasses—with a final sales price exceeding 6,000 RMB from participating retailers are eligible for a subsidy. The final sales price is the product price after deducting all production, distribution, and mobile operator discounts, based on the tax-inclusive sales invoice. Each eligible product receives a fixed subsidy of 500 RMB. Each consumer may claim the subsidy for one product per category. The payment date and invoice date must fall within the campaign period. Consumers must complete real-name verification and obtain subsidy eligibility via the "Yunshanfu" App before purchasing eligible products at physical stores. E-commerce platforms and the WeChat Mini Program "Shenzhen Home Appliance Subsidy" platform will be launched subsequently.

3. Dining Vouchers Implementation Period: The start date depends on the platform launch, with the campaign ending on December 31, 2026 (it may end early if funds are exhausted). Subsidy Details and Standards: Various districts will issue dining vouchers in rounds, with subsidy standards determined by each district. Each consumer may receive one voucher per tier per issuance cycle within each district and platform, available on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies last. Vouchers are valid for in-store dining only and cannot be split across transactions; only one voucher may be used per order. They are not applicable for merchant prepaid cards, vouchers, recharges, or stored-value card purchases.

4. Special Product Purchase Subsidy Implementation Period: The start date depends on the platform launch, with the campaign ending on December 31, 2026 (it may end early if funds are exhausted). Subsidy Details and Standards: Districts will independently select special products and organize implementation. The subsidy per product is capped at 10% of the price or 500 RMB, whichever is lower. Each consumer may claim the subsidy for one product per category. The payment date and invoice date must fall within the campaign period. The product category list will be updated on the "Shenzhen Business" WeChat official account.
