Semiconductor ETFs Surge with Multiple Funds Gaining Over 3% in Morning Session

On the morning of May 20, the Science and Technology Innovation Chip ETF (588200) saw a significant increase in volume and price, with its half-day trading volume reaching 43.4 billion yuan. The Semiconductor Equipment ETF (159516) and the Communication ETF (515880) also recorded trading volumes exceeding 20 billion yuan each during the same period. Among cross-border ETFs, the China-Korea Semiconductor ETF (513310) experienced a notable decrease in trading volume, with a half-day turnover of 59.88 billion yuan.

In terms of ETF performance, the semiconductor sector remained active, with the Semiconductor ETF (159325) rising nearly 4% in the morning session. Several other semiconductor-related ETFs also gained over 3%, maintaining overall strength.

From an investment perspective, the performance of A-share semiconductor companies shows that overall revenue has grown year-on-year for 11 consecutive quarters. In the first quarter of 2026, both gross and net profit margins increased sequentially and year-on-year, with gross margins reaching a quarterly high. Net profit margins were only lower than those recorded from the second quarter of 2021 to the second quarter of 2022. Driven by AI and self-reliance initiatives, the revenue and profitability of A-share semiconductor companies have entered a new growth phase.

The Semiconductor ETF (159325) rose by 3.95% in the morning session, with a share count of 214 million and a trading volume of 129 million yuan. This ETF tracks the CSI Semiconductor Industry Select Index, which includes 50 securities from the semiconductor sector selected for their scale, profitability, R&D investment, and growth potential, reflecting the overall performance of representative and investable companies in the industry.

The Semiconductor ETF (159582) and the Semiconductor Equipment ETF (561980) rose by 3.44% and 3.08%, respectively, this morning. The Semiconductor Equipment ETF (561980) has a share count of 1.143 billion and a half-day trading volume of 350 million yuan. Both ETFs track the CSI Semiconductor Industry Index, which selects up to 40 securities from companies involved in semiconductor materials, equipment, and applications, reflecting the performance of core semiconductor industry players.
