On the afternoon of October 16, TVB (ASX: 00511) announced a partnership with Hongguo Short Dramas, marking its official entry into the vertical-screen drama sector. The first short drama jointly produced by both parties, a spin-off of "War and Beauty" titled "War and Beauty: Palace Wall Willow Breaks," held its commencement ceremony today at the Ming and Qing Palace in Hengdian.
According to TVB, this collaboration marks the first time the company has brought a legendary IP to the vertical-screen drama stage, seamlessly combining its signature high-quality production with the fast pace of new media while actively exploring the younger market.
Regarding the partnership, Man Wai-hung, Assistant Director of TVB's Drama Department, expressed great anticipation. He noted that the pace requirements for vertical-screen dramas are extremely high, which aligns perfectly with his consistent pursuit of tight dramatic tension. "This collaboration with Hongguo is absolutely a breakthrough for the TVB drama team. Although it has been transformed into a vertical-screen format with a shorter length, the production team has handled it with the rigorous standards used for shooting major traditional dramas. We hope that through 'War and Beauty: Palace Wall Willow Breaks,' we can prove to audiences that TVB can not only produce excellent traditional long-form dramas, but can also stand out in the premium micro-short drama arena with solid scripts and high-quality production, delivering a brand-new visual impact that hits home," said Man Wai-hung.
