Hang Seng Index Company Revises Industry Classification System, Adding Two New Sub-Categories and Updating Ten

On June 3rd, the Hang Seng Index Company announced revisions to its industry classification framework.

The current system categorizes listed company securities into 12 industries, 31 business sectors, and 112 business sub-sectors.

To better reflect the latest developments in the Hong Kong and mainland China markets, this revision will introduce two new business sub-categories and update ten existing ones.

These changes are scheduled to take effect on Monday, September 7, 2026.

Following this update, the Hang Seng Industry Classification System will encompass 12 industries, 31 business sectors, and 114 business sub-sectors.
