On the morning of November 20, Zhao Lijian, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs at China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared two videos from the "Guangdong Release" account on his personal social media platform, highlighting the breathtaking beauty of Heyuan, Guangdong Province, under the morning light.
One of the videos, originally captured by local photographer Zhu Zhibin in Lianping County's Yuanshan and Zhongxin towns, depicts mist retreating from mountain peaks as the rising sun casts golden hues across the landscape. The serene scenery, bathed in soft light, conveys a sense of warmth and clarity.
Another video, jointly produced by Heyuan Daily, Yangcheng Evening News' "Great Beauty Lingnan" studio, and Dongyuan County Media Center, showcases the picturesque Wanlv Lake and Shangping in Lianping. The footage captures mist-shrouded mountains resembling ink paintings, shimmering lake waters at dawn, and egrets soaring freely—inviting viewers to step into a world of tranquility and natural splendor.
This isn't the first time Zhao has praised Heyuan. In July, he shared a video of the Dongjiang River basin in Heping County, accompanied by a caption celebrating the city's emerald-like waterways.
Nestled in northern Guangdong, Heyuan is renowned as a "green fairyland" and serves as a vital ecological barrier and water source for Guangdong and Hong Kong. With forest coverage reaching 73.26% and Wanlv Lake—South China’s largest artificial reservoir—maintaining top-tier water quality, the city has earned accolades including "National Best Ecological Conservation Model City" and "China’s Top Ten Green Economy Cities."
In recent years, Heyuan has championed integrated development of agriculture, culture, tourism, and sports while scaling up forestry industries and promoting eco-product markets—showcasing a model where ecological preservation and economic prosperity thrive together.
