At the 2026 Sichuan Investment Promotion Conference for Renowned Chinese and Foreign Enterprises, the Chairman of China Three Gorges Corporation announced the company's commitment to significantly increase investment in the region.

The focus will be on constructing a new-type energy system, accelerating the potential of existing cascade power stations on the lower Jinsha River, and advancing the integrated base for hydropower, wind, and solar power in the same area.

A key initiative involves planning to establish a ten-million-kilowatt-level clean energy demonstration base in western Sichuan.

The corporation will also steadily promote the "Xinjiang Power Transmission to Sichuan" project to foster cross-regional, integrated, and complementary development of multiple energy sources including hydropower, wind, solar, and storage, thereby aiding in building Sichuan into a strong clean energy province.

The Chairman stated that the Sichuan event serves as a premier platform for domestic and international companies to invest in the province.

This year's activities concentrate on strengthening industrial chains in key sectors like clean energy, which expands broad development prospects for the corporation's operations in Sichuan.

Sichuan is a major hydropower and clean energy province. The Three Gorges Group has always regarded Sichuan as a strategic and key investment location.

Through deepened practical cooperation, the group has accumulated nearly 210 billion yuan in investments, established close to 60 companies, and employs over 3,500 staff in the province, accounting for 10% of its total workforce.

In recent years, the group has collaborated with Sichuan on developing clean energy, advancing technological innovation, strengthening ecological conservation, and improving public welfare.

Their joint efforts have created four world-class mega hydropower stations: Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, and Xiangjiaba.

The total installed capacity in Sichuan has surpassed 48 million kilowatts, all from clean sources, supplying 130 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the province and providing sustained momentum for a comprehensive green economic and social transition.

"Through long-term strategic cooperation, we deeply appreciate Sichuan's unique strategic position, solid industrial foundation, and favorable business environment," the Chairman remarked.

"Particularly, the development goals for the '15th Five-Year Plan' period present new opportunities, further strengthening our confidence and resolve to deepen our roots and invest in Sichuan."

He added that the group will use this event as an opportunity to align with Sichuan's needs and leverage the corporation's capabilities to continuously increase investment and better integrate into and support high-quality economic and social development.

The corporation's plans are centered on four key areas. First, building a new energy system by enhancing existing cascade power stations, developing the integrated Jinsha River base, planning the western Sichuan clean energy base, and advancing the cross-regional power transmission project.

Second, contributing to coordinated regional development by actively integrating into the Panxi Economic Zone construction and promoting key projects like the Renhe Pumped Storage Power Station, aiming to create a model for common prosperity.

Third, advancing the construction of a beautiful Sichuan by utilizing its strengths in original ecological protection technologies, implementing the Heishui River basin restoration project, and continuing artificial breeding and release of rare fish like the Chinese sturgeon to fortify the upper Yangtze ecological barrier.

Fourth, focusing on building harmonious and beautiful villages by actively fulfilling social responsibilities, cooperating with local governments on resettlement work, supporting immigrant prosperity and geological disaster management in reservoir areas, and aiding Sichuan's comprehensive rural revitalization.
