Key Highlights:

1) Anthropic intends to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD Instinct™ MI450 series GPUs, utilizing AMD Helios rack-scale solutions. The initial 1 gigawatt deployment is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.

2) The two companies will collaborate to optimize workloads for AMD Instinct GPUs using Claude, and accelerate the development of the AMD ROCm™ software platform. Additionally, AMD will broadly adopt Claude across its engineering and product development teams.

3) AMD has committed to a strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic.

Santa Clara, California, July 22, 2026 — Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) and Anthropic today announced a strategic partnership. Under the agreement, Anthropic will deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD Instinct™ MI450 series GPUs within AMD Helios™ rack-scale solutions, with the first 1 gigawatt deployment targeted for the first half of 2027.

As AI applications rapidly expand, the demand for compute power for model training and inference continues to grow. To meet the increasing market demand for Claude, Anthropic is consistently scaling its compute infrastructure. This gigawatt-scale deployment of AMD Helios will further broaden AMD's business footprint in the global AI infrastructure buildout.

Anthropic will deploy AMD Helios rack-scale solutions powered by AMD Instinct™ MI455X GPUs (part of the AMD Instinct™ MI450 series), AMD EPYC™ “Venice” processors, AMD Pensando™ networking solutions, and the AMD ROCm™ software platform. Helios is purpose-built for next-generation AI training and inference, meeting the performance, energy efficiency, and scalability demands of large-scale AI workloads. This deployment builds upon Anthropic's existing use of AMD Instinct™ MI355X GPUs.

Furthermore, AMD and Anthropic will launch a multi-year engineering collaboration to accelerate AMD software development using Claude. Joint engineering teams will leverage Claude to optimize workloads for AMD Instinct GPUs and further advance the AMD ROCm™ software platform. Concurrently, AMD will broadly integrate Claude into its own engineering and product development teams.

AMD has committed to a strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic in the future.

Dr. Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD, stated: “We are delighted to deepen our collaboration with Anthropic and drive the gigawatt-scale deployment of AMD Helios. This partnership merges Anthropic's expertise in frontier AI with AMD's high-performance computing capabilities. Together, we will push the boundaries of AI at greater scale and expand the application of Helios in next-generation AI infrastructure.”

Tom Brown, Co-founder and Chief Computing Officer at Anthropic, commented: “Sufficient compute resources are critical to sustaining Claude's ongoing development and meeting customer demand. By collaborating with AMD across the full hardware and software stack, we can access the necessary compute power and continuously optimize for Claude's training and serving. Additionally, supporting diverse hardware platforms allows us to select the most suitable hardware for different workloads.”

This partnership marks a significant step forward in the strategic relationship between AMD and Anthropic. By combining gigawatt-scale deployment with long-term engineering collaboration, both companies will build a foundation for long-term cooperation, driving the development and deployment of next-generation AI infrastructure.
