Changping District Launches Over 100 Key Activities for May Day Holiday, Great Wall Night Tour Illuminates New Landmark

Deep News04-24

On April 24, the Beijing Municipal People's Government Information Office held a press conference for the "Colorful May Day: Enjoy Beijing" cultural and tourism series of activities during the May Day holiday. It was announced that for the holiday, Changping District has systematically integrated Ming culture, Great Wall culture, Grand Canal culture, and rural ecological resources to meticulously prepare a "cultural and tourism feast" for residents and tourists, including over one hundred key activities and public benefit initiatives.

The Juyongguan section of the Great Wall, themed "Ming Dynasty Carnival," will prominently launch a new immersive night tour experience on May 1. During the night tour, patrolling soldiers, ancient-style markets, and interactive challenges with NPCs will be presented together, alongside dazzling non-legacy elements such as acrobatics, drum dances, and ancient music, creating a life-like scene of a Ming Dynasty frontier pass where visitors can "play and watch, immersing themselves in the action instantly." Visitors can both ascend the wall to admire the moon and the scenery, and participate immersively in interactions to feel the warmth of history. Through the multi-faceted integration of "performances + markets + experiences," the Great Wall at night is becoming a new urban landmark with greater cultural appeal and influence.

The Ming Tombs are launching the "Ming Culture Month" overall, featuring three main sections: ceremonial exhibitions, live-action performances, and interactive experiences. It will include high-standard recreations of traditional rituals like imperial guards and sacrificial ceremonies at the Changling Tomb, and innovatively introduce immersive plays such as "The Grand Court Assembly of Yongle," creating a panoramic experience where "ceremonies can be seen, history can be performed, figures can be felt, and culture can be participated in," allowing tourists to travel through time and converse with the Ming Dynasty.

The Grand Canal Headwaters Heritage Park will host the "Strolling BaiFu Spring" Tourism and Culture Season, allowing ancient charm and modernity to resonate together. The event will feature both the contemporary rhythms of folk bands and the elegant presentations of Peking Opera, a quintessential Chinese art form, and classical dance. Guided by the principle of "ancient charm as the soul, modernity as the rhythm, landscape as the scenery, and culture as the thread," it lets visitors listen to the stories of the canal amidst the shimmering water.

Changping District is promoting the transformation and upgrade of suburban tourism from "viewing scenery" to "experiencing life." Xinzhuang in Xingshou Town and the Xiayuan Art Village will present sunset markets. Popular check-in spots like Shatuo Village's "Beijing's Altay," Dongying Village's "Beijing's Little Iceland," and Maizhuang Village's "Pingren Farm" create a poetic slow life for citizens and tourists. Huata Temple Fair in Nankou Town, in conjunction with the Aiyu City Resort, creates a scene integrating folk performances with parent-child educational activities. Liushi Harbor Village in Liucun Town continues to host the "Listening to Spring" Liushi Harbor Concert, making the "echoes from the cloud-terraced fields" another unique enjoyment of rural leisure.

Simultaneously, the Ming Tombs Forest Shade Leisure Camp is being launched, featuring activities like a Little Warrior obstacle course, a 3-kilometer cross-country challenge, parent-child water play, karting, and camping barbecues, constructing a composite space integrating sports growth, parent-child interaction, and nature experiences, allowing visitors to find relaxation and pleasure amidst the mountains and waters.

Dongxiaokou's Aobei Forest Park is initiating the "Garden of Dongxiaokou" activity, building a new integrated consumption scene. It will include a special performance by the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, hot air balloon rides for a bird's-eye view of the majestic landscape, and the stunningly beautiful light and shadow dreamscape of the Huitian Platform. Concurrently, the Shokai LONG Street and Hualian commercial district are simultaneously carrying out "ticket stub economy" discount benefits for the public, ensuring the holiday has both a "cultural vibe" and a "lively atmosphere," achieving "consumption in one location, coordinated benefits across the area."
