Global investment bank Goldman Sachs has issued a recent research report maintaining a "Neutral" rating on Chinese education company Gaotu Techedu Inc. (NYSE: GOTU) and setting a target price of $2.50. This analysis follows the company's release of its fiscal year 2025 financial results on March 5.
Gaotu's latest earnings report reveals full-year 2025 revenue of 6.15 billion yuan, a 35.0% year-over-year increase, surpassing its annual growth target. Fourth-quarter revenue was 1.69 billion yuan, up 21.4% compared to the same period last year. Regarding cash flow, the company's full-year cash receipts reached 6.90 billion yuan, marking a 23.0% year-over-year rise. In terms of profitability, the company's non-GAAP net loss narrowed significantly to 284 million yuan for the full year, representing a 71.5% reduction year-over-year, while operating cash flow also showed substantial improvement.
Market analysis indicates that despite Gaotu's strong revenue growth and significantly reduced losses, its sales expense ratio remains high. Furthermore, the expansion of its offline business has introduced new cost pressures, preventing the company from achieving overall profitability. Investors are advised to monitor whether the company can more effectively convert its revenue growth into net profit in the future.
Following the release of this rating, market attention is focused on how Gaotu will balance the relationship between "scale growth" and "profit realization" in the coming quarters. For long-term investors, the key test for validating any further upside potential in the company's valuation will be its ability to achieve profitability across all business lines by 2026.
